“Doulas provide physical, emotional, and informational support for women throughout pregnancy, and can provide the 1:1 continuous nurturing and encouragement during labor that we know leads to better outcomes with less stress and fear. My experience supports the results from many clinical trials, that show that childbirth is a safer and a better experience when obstetricians, nurses, and doulas work together.”
Who’s Your Doulas?
With over 30 years of combined experience and hundreds of families served, the Modesto Birth & Beyond team of birth and postpartum doulas supports expectant and new families with childbirth education, labor support, breastfeeding support and consultation, postpartum care, infant care, and more. The team works collaboratively to provide exceptional service, unwavering support, and evidence-based information to empower families during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.
Based in Modesto and serving the greater Central Valley, they are passionate about making a positive impact in their community. Sheila, Brooke, and Corinne are all DONA Certified Birth Doulas. Sheila and Brooke are also DONA Certified Postpartum Doulas and Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educators, while Corinne is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).
Clients benefit from a shared-care model that ensures reliable, rested, and consistent support—day or night. The team contracts only with highly qualified doulas who are hand-selected, vetted, and mentored by MBB to maintain the highest standard of care. While each doula brings her own personality and strengths, their training and approach are unified.
The Modesto Birth & Beyond philosophy is to “mother the mother,” offering nurturing care that blends evidence-based information with essential emotional and physical support during one of life’s most vulnerable and transformative experiences.

Brooke Cozby, CD/PCD(DONA), LCCE

Meet Brooke
Brooke is a DONA-certified Birth and Postpartum Doula, Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator, and co-founder of Modesto Birth & Beyond. She also serves as one of the educators in the Made for Birth & Beyond online course. A proud wife and mother of three, Brooke’s personal birth experiences shaped her passion for supporting families through pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum journey.
Her path into birth work began after two Cesarean deliveries and, ultimately, a successful vaginal birth after two C-sections. That transformational experience inspired her to become a doula and help others find their voice, advocate for their choices, and feel confident in their bodies.
Since attending her first birth in 2002, Brooke has loved walking alongside families during both labor and the tender postpartum period. She delights in helping parents adjust, heal, and thrive in those first weeks at home. One of her greatest joys as a doula is watching fear melt away as education and continuous support empower families to move forward with confidence and excitement in welcoming their baby.
Corinne Chilton, IBCLC, CD(DONA)
Owner + lactation Consultant + BIRTH DOULA + POSTPARTUM DOULA + Placenta ENCAPSULATION SPECIALIST
Meet Corinne
Corinne is the third owner of Modesto Birth & Beyond. She is a certified Birth Doula (DONA), trained Postpartum Doula, Certified Placenta Specialist, childbirth educator with the Made for Birth & Beyond online course, and most recently, an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) — her greatest passion.
With a degree in Public Health Education earned in 2018, Corinne began her career in elderly care. Her path shifted dramatically after the traumatic birth and difficult breastfeeding journey of her first daughter, which left her feeling overwhelmed and under-supported. That experience ignited her passion to create a better way for families — and ultimately led her to birth and postpartum work.
Since then, Corinne has gone on to experience two deeply healing home births, each surrounded by a supportive team. Those experiences transformed her not only as a mother, but as a person, and confirmed her calling to provide that same compassionate support for others.
Her greatest passion lies in serving families during the postpartum season, with a special focus on infant feeding. Nothing brings her more fulfillment than helping parents navigate newborn life, find confidence in feeding, and feel supported through the joys and challenges of early parenthood. Corinne believes every family deserves to feel seen, heard, and supported through birth and beyond. She considers it her greatest honor to walk alongside parents during one of the most sacred and vulnerable seasons of life.
Corinne and her husband Sam, who have known each other since age 13, are raising three wonderful daughters. They are her daily reminder of why this work matters so deeply.
